Zdzisław Adamczyk

Zdzisław Jerzy Adamczyk (born January 5, 1936 in Berezów , today Suchedniów ) is a Polish literary historian and editor who deals with the history of literature on Young Poland as well as with the works and especially with the letters of Stefan Żeromski .

Life

Adamczyk was born on January 5, 1936 in the village of Berezów, the son of the worker Marian Adamczyk and Alfreda Adamczyk. He attended the general high school in Skarżysko-Kamienna , where he graduated from high school in 1953 . From 1953 to 1957 he studied Polish studies at the University of Warsaw , where he obtained his master's degree . After completing his studies, he worked as an editor in the publishing house of the Ministry of Defense ( Wydawnictwo Ministerstwa Obrony Narodowej ) until October 1959, when he moved to Radom . Until 1961 he worked in the local public library. From 1961 to 1971 he was first a librarian and then a lecturer at the Studium Nauczycielskie. In 1962 he joined the Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza .

In 1971 he received his doctorate at his University of Warsaw with the thesis Poglądy estetyczne i historycznoliterackie Stefana Żeromskiego (Aesthetic and historical-literary views of Stefan Żeromski) and moved to Kielce , where he worked at the Wyższa Szkoła Nauczycielska and lectured from 1975. In 1975 he joined the editorial committee of the collected works ( Pisma zebrane ) of Stefan Żeromski.

In 1985 Adamczyk completed his habilitation with the text “Przedwiośnie” Stefana Żeromskiego w świetle dyskusji i polemik z 1925 roku (“Early Spring” by Stefan Żeromski in the light of the discussion and polemics from 1925) at the Instytutauk Badań Literackich Polskiej Akademii in Warsaw. In the following years he continued his teaching activities at the University of Kielce, where he was head of the Institute of Polish Philology from 1987 to 1991 and from 1996 to 2002. From 1996 to 2007 he also held a professorship at the School of Humanities and Natural Sciences in Sandomierz .

Adamczyk retired in 2006 and held a professorship at the Humanist Aleksander Gieysztor Academy in Pułtusk until 2015.
