The Stänkersgatt colliery in Essen - Kupferdreh - Byfang is a former hard coal mine .

Mining history

In 1802 the Wohlgemuth colliery was built in the seams of the Stänkersgatt field. From 1804 the Stänkersgatt colliery was in operation for several years. The coal mined was shipped across the Ruhr . In 1809 mining was carried out in the field , the production took place in daily operation 1. From 1813 to 1815, daily operation 1 and daily operation 2 were in production. In 1820 was first mined in May of the same year the mine was in deadlines set. During this time only necessary maintenance work was carried out. This work was carried out by the responsible shift supervisor . Alignment work was carried out again in the pit from 1826 onwards . From July of the following year coal was mined again, 22,738 ½ bushels of hard coal were mined. From August 1829, the mine was again placed in time limits. In December 1830 the mine was put back into operation. This year 532 bushels of hard coal were mined with five miners . The following year, the mine was again put in time limits. 1832 an attempt shaft was geteuft but it was Schacht again in February of the same year filled . In the same year the Stänkersgatt colliery was closed.
