Decathlon - Festival Des Politischen Liedes 1970–1980 is a compilation published in1980 that reproducesthe performances of various artists at the Festival of Political Song between 1970 and 1980. Performances from the first ten years of thefestival organizedby the FDJ in East Berlin are recordedon the album.

The first page contains mainly Spanish-speaking artists, Inti-Illimani and Quilapayún play the two important hymns of the South American socialists Venceremos and El pueblo unido . The only song in Portuguese is Poder Popular by Santocas . The B-side begins with an excerpt from Mikis Theodorakis ' Canto General , in which he set parts of Pablo Neruda's cycle of poems to music.

In contrast, the second record is more dedicated to (West) German and European artists such as Franz Josef Degenhart , Floh de Cologne or Bots , with Ethiopian or Vietnamese musicians also being heard. Finally, the double LP closes with the song We are everywhere from the October Club , which is supposed to be a hymn and a manifesto for the singers and the festival.
