The tithe barn on the Ameide in Detmold is a building of the Lippisches Landesmuseum and has been a registered monument since May 17, 1985 .

history

The tithe barn was built in Sabbenhausen in 1555 . It was under the Falkenhagen monastery . In the middle of the 20th century, the building was threatened with demolition due to its dilapidation. The owner agreed to hand over the barn free of charge if the demolition costs were covered. The Detmold district promised to assume the costs of DM 10,000 and handed over the beam structure to the Lippe regional association for the planned expansion of the state museum on the former washing yard at Detmold Castle . 1953 began the dismantling work, the framework has been to Detmold Ameide to the translocated and rebuilt in the years 1960-62. The tithe barn was thus integrated into the building ensemble of the Lippisches Landesmuseum.

Since October 2010 it has housed the permanent exhibition Arminius , Thusnelda and the Battle in the Teutoburg Forest - A German Founding Myth on the ground floor and a furniture collection on the two attic floors.

architecture

The tithe barn is a four-column half-timbered building with a high, crooked hip roof and boarded gables. The sign of the Kreuzherren von Falkenhagen and the year 1555 are located above the gate entrance. The continuous hallway is characterized by curved headbands and massive ceiling beams.
