Zeine Ould Zeidane

Zeine Ould Zeidane ( Arabic الزين ولد زيدان, DMG az-Zaid walad Zaidān ; * 1966 in Tamchekett ) is a Mauritanian politician and economist. Zeine Ould Zeidane was Prime Minister of Mauritania from April 20, 2007 to May 5, 2008.

Career

Zeine Ould Zeidane studied in Nouakchott and at the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis economics and taught there after completing his studies for a short time. He returned to Mauritania, where he again briefly taught at the University of Nouakchott. In 2000 Zeidane moved to the World Bank . In July 2004 he became head of the Mauritanian central bank.

In December 2006, he announced his candidacy for president. With 15.27% of the vote, he came third. In the second ballot, he supported Sidi Mohamed Ould Cheikh Abdallahi , who was then elected President of Mauritania on March 25, 2007. One day after taking office, the new President named Zeine Ould Zeidane Prime Minister.
