The newspaper holding Hesse (ZHH) is a publishing group based in northern Hesse Kassel . It publishes the daily newspapers Frankfurter Rundschau , Gießener Allgemeine Zeitung and Hessische / Niedersächsische Allgemeine , among others .

The publishing group is owned by the newspaper publisher F. Wolff & Sohn , which belongs to the Ippen Group, with 80 percent and the Mittelhessische Druck- und Verlagsgesellschaft with 20 percent. The company employs around 870 people in editorial and printing , as well as over 1,500 newspaper deliverers . Around 250,000 newspapers are printed every day.

In February 2018 it became known that the Hessen newspaper holding company would like to take over the Frankfurter Rundschau and Frankfurter Neue Presse from the Fazit Foundation . The Cartel Office approved the purchase on March 5, 2018. In addition to the daily newspapers, the Fazit Foundation sells all companies that once belonged to the Frankfurter Societät , including the advertising paper Mix am Wednesday , the marketing company RheinMain.Media , the digital agency Rhein-Main.Net and the Societäts-Druckerei . The change of ownership took place at the beginning of April 2018. The Karl Gerold Foundation remains a minority shareholder with ten percent of the Frankfurter Rundschau .
