Zellsee is a part of the municipality of Wessobrunn in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau .

geography

The village is about three kilometers east of Wessobrunn in the Rott valley on the north bank of the Zellsee of the same name . The Schlittbach flows directly north of the village.

history

As early as 1414, at the behest of the Wessobrunn abbot Ulrich V. von Höhenkirchen, the Rott was dammed up for fish farming in Zellsee .

In 1752 the village comprised four properties, all of which were landable for the Wessobrunn monastery . One of the properties was the so-called cell mill, the other a Schwaige of the monastery, which was sold in the course of secularization in 1803.

Attractions

The St. Martin Chapel is located in Zellsee, a plastered building with a turret from the early 19th century.
