Schellschwang is a district of the municipality of Wessobrunn in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau .
geography
The hamlet is located about three kilometers north of Wessobrunn in a moraine landscape . The Bayerdießen forest stretches to the north and east .
history
Ownership of the Wessobrunn monastery in Schellschwang is mentioned as early as the 13th century, and in 1558 Schellschwang is mentioned as part of the Wessobrunn monastery hofmark .
In 1752 the hamlet comprised five quarter courtyards . All farm positions were landable for the Wessobrunn monastery , the high jurisdiction lay with the Landsberg district court .
Schellschwang belonged to the former municipality of Haid until the regional reform in Bavaria and was incorporated into Wessobrunn on May 1, 1978.
Attractions
On the southern edge of Schellschwang is the St. Maria Chapel, a hall building with a recessed polygonal connection from the early 18th century.
