Zentropa (film company)

Zentropa is a Danish film production company that makes both theatrical and television films and series. Their headquarters and studios are located in the Copenhagen suburb of Hvidovre . In addition, Zentropa owns a number of subsidiaries in Europe.

With around 135 permanent and up to 450 freelance employees, Zentropa is Denmark's largest production company.

Zentropa was founded in 1992 by director Lars von Trier and producer Peter Aalbæk Jensen and primarily produces independent films. Many of the films produced by Zentropa have won international film awards and played a major role in the development of the Dogma 95 movement.

Zentropa produced u. a. Porn films such as Constance (1998), Pink Prison (1999), HotMen CoolBoyz (2000) and All About Anna (2005).

In 2008 the Egmont Foundation acquired a 50% stake in the company.
