The Center for Jewish Studies Shanghai ( Chinese  上海 犹太 研究 中心 , English Center for Jewish Studies Shanghai (CJSS) ) is an institute of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences .

The institute's main research interests are the history of the “Shanghai Jews” ( Jews who fled to Shanghai during the Holocaust ), Jewish communities in China (the largest are in Tianjin , Harbin and Kaifeng ) and political studies of the Middle East . Under the leadership of Professor Pan Guang , it has grown to become the leading study institution in China dealing with Jewish and Israeli issues.

Since 2006, a memorial service can be carried out at the center through the Austrian Service Abroad .

International

The center has organized several national and international scientific conferences, as well as so-called Rickshaw Reunions (reunions of refugees who survived the Holocaust in Shanghai). The center had prominent visits from Jitzchak Rabin , Ehud Olmert , Gerhard Schröder , Ariel Sharon , Hillary Clinton and Thomas Klestil, among others .
