Zhou Tienong ( Chinese  周铁农 * November 1938 in Shenyang , Liaoning ) is a Chinese university teachers and politicians , among others, from 2007 to 2012 Chairman of the Central Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Kuomintang and 2008-2013 Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress was.

Life

Zhou Tienong, who belongs to the Han ethnic group , began studying at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics at Peking University after attending school in 1955 . After graduating in 1960, he was initially a research assistant at the Harbin Polytechnic University and then between 1961 and 1983 lecturer at the Northeast Institute for Heavy Engineering in Heilongjiang . He is a member of the Revolutionary Committee of the Kuomintang and began his political career from 1983 to 1991 as vice-mayor of the province situated Heilongjiang city of Qiqihar . He was also a member of the National Committee of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People between 1988 and 1993 . After a brief stint as Assistant to the Governor of the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province in 1991, he was Vice Governor of that province between 1991 and 1998.

Zhou became vice chairman of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee of Heilongjiang Province in 1991 and also served as vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committee from 1992 to 1997. Between 1993 and 1998 he was a member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People and then from 1998 to 2008 Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People. In 1999 he also became president of the China Council for the Promotion of Peaceful Reunification, an organization sponsored by the government of the People's Republic of China to promote reunification with Taiwan . In December 2007, he replaced He Luli as chairman of the Central Committee of the Kuomintang Revolutionary Committees and thus chairman of one of eight bloc parties outside the Chinese Communist Party . In addition, from 2008 to 2013 he served as Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress .
