The Zinken or Ausseer Zinken is an 1854 m above sea level. A. high mountain of the Dachstein Mountains in the Styrian Salzkammergut .
location
The Zinken forms the northernmost summit of the Dachstein plateau in Ausseerland . The mountain, which slopes steeply to the north towards Bad Aussee , is framed by the Koppentraun in the west and north and the Kainischtraun and the Ödensee in the east . Towards the south, the mountain continues in the gentle and wooded forms of the extensive Dachstein plateau.
It represents part of the Dachstein stock and consists of Dachstein limestone in the summit area , which is underlain by the main dolomite .
The Zinken includes the summit of the Zinkens ( 1854 m ) and, from west to east, the summits Hoher Koppen ( 1780 m ), Rauer Koppen ( 1807 m ), Feuerkogel ( 1779 m ), Eislochkogel ( 1830 m ) and Mattkogel ( 1659 m ). There are several alpine pastures on the high plateau south of the Zinkens, namely the Koppenalm, Planneralm, Mitteralm, Handleralm, Gsprangalm and Sillalm. With the exception of the alpine huts, there is no alpine refuge in the mountain area .

- Seldom used and poorly marked trails lead from the Koppenwinkellacke and from Ödensee to the summit (only for experienced hikers)
