The Bernstein Cistercian Monastery (Polish: Pełczyce ) was a Cistercian monastery in Pełczyce , West Pomeranian Voivodeship , Powiat Choszczeński (Arnswalde District) in Poland from 1290 to 1539 .

history

Albrecht III. von Brandenburg founded a monastery at the northern end of Lake Pełcz in 1290, which was populated by Cistercian women of unknown origin. The supervision was in the hands of Marienwalde Monastery . Margrave Johann von Küstrin dissolved it in 1539. Most of the buildings were lost in the 19th century. Only the west wing of the monastery was preserved. The former monastery is part of the Cistercian Road . The monastery should not be confused with the former Franciscan Terziarenkloster Bernstein near Sulz am Neckar .
