The Zlatý potok (German Goldbach , also Zollerbach ) is a right tributary of the Losenice in the Czech Republic . It is located in the Bohemian Forest and flows through the regions of South Bohemia and Pilsen .

course

The brook rises northeast of Řetenice , a district of Nicov in okres Prachatice . It flows first to the southwest, where after 2 km it joins the Ždánovský potok, which rises in Ždánov . From there it flows 3 km further to the west, about half a kilometer from the southern edge of the village past Kašperské Hory , shortly afterwards it flows into the Losenice. The valley of the stream, Amálino údolí (German Amaliatal ), lies on the route of the Gulden Stras , which led from Passau to Kašperské Hory.

history

The Zlatý potok got its name because of its gold deposits, which especially in the 14th and 15th centuries attracted prospectors from all over the region. Gold digging tunnels, one of which houses a seismic measuring station, are still preserved on the southern slopes of the Bachtal valley .

Due to its valuable biotopes (mainly springs and wetlands), 80.93 hectares of the valley are under nature protection today. Furthermore, an educational trail has been set up that provides information about the history of gold mining in the region.
