action

The brutal property speculator and mayor Harry Ransom wants to build a place out of his small, sleepy town in the Australian hinterland that is home to the greatest attraction in the southern hemisphere. In order to implement his project, he wants to attract foreign capital in the form of the wealthy Japanese businessman Kinoshita to the Australian bush to build a new amusement park called “ Robot Man Park ” next to a motel and a reptile farm. The few city councilors are hoping for incredible returns and therefore support the mayor's plan. The young Aborigine Jimmy, who entertains the gentlemen, is also present at the meeting .

A local military cemetery , where fallen veterans of the Vietnam War , some of whom are infected with an unknown pathogen, rest, stands in the way of this venture. The self-righteous ransomware decides to relocate it immediately, as the investor's crucial visit is imminent. Due to a lack of time, he has all visible signs of the resting place destroyed in consultation with the council members. At his command, a hero's monument is blown up and the Eternal Flame is extinguished. The city fathers are certain that there is no harm to be feared, neither from the war graves commission nor from other institutions.

Due to the detonation, a few vampire-like Vietnam soldiers who have mutated into zombies wake up unnoticed to take revenge on the living as uniformed undead for their disturbance of the peace. At some point the Japanese guest of honor ends up in the village with his translator and lover Yoshie. He is received with all honors and invited to an evening celebration. Here Jimmy, who supplies the guests with spirits, gets to know Kinoshita's attractive assistant, whom he protects from ransom a little later when the drunk tries to assault her. At this moment the village is overrun by the living dead and various residents die. Jimmy escapes with Yoshie to his uncle away from town. Here the two eyewitnesses, like the strange old man - he is also a native Australian - are eliminated with the help of his conjured tribal spirits some advancing creatures.

The town is now isolated and angry undead have mined the town extensively. One tries first of all to ward off the attacks that take place at night. Tactical and strategic considerations dominate the scene as Jimmy tells the astonished survivors about his uncle and his old tribal ritual. The incredulous Mayor Ransom sees his authority endangered, he does not believe in the "savage". But Jimmy is convinced of his uncle's magical abilities. In his opinion, Charlie, as the man is called, is able to awaken a group of soldiers from a neighboring hero cemetery and lead them into battle against the monsters. And indeed, in dire straits, the summoned “good” beings march into the town and end the bloody hustle and bustle of the beasts. In the midst of the fighting, the industrialist Kinoshita is also killed. At the same time, they are pushing the wicked back into their graves and freeing the city from the mines. Finally, the creatures summoned by Charlie burn the city down in retaliation for their disturbance of the peace.
