The Protestant village church Zum Frieden Gottes is located in the Ellichleben district of the Witzleben community in the Ilm district in Thuringia . It belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church Community Association Elxleben-Witzleben in the parish of Arnstadt-Ilmenau of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

history

In 1720 the village church was built on the foundations of a destroyed previous church building. It looks simple and plain. The church tower and the nave have unplastered ashlars and rubble stones in their walls.

Inside, splendid furnishings with a double-broken wooden barrel and a two-storey gallery reveal the spiritual atmosphere of the room.

In 1770 and 1777 the church survived two fires without major damage.

The nave has a mansard roof . The parapet fields are painted with tendril ornaments. At the box entrance under the south pore, the tendril motif is shown in the form of a grid.

Furnishing

The pulpit altar in the east of the ship is architecturally well built. The font is from the 2nd half of the 15th century.

The organ was built in 1776 by Daniel Schulze from Milbitz. Its 20 registers are divided between the main work , the upper work and the pedal . Since the instrument suffered severe damage in 1960 from vandalism and rainwater ingress, it was restored by the organ building company Schönfeld in Stadtilm until 2010 with the support of the specially founded association for the preservation of the organ . The instrument was inaugurated on June 20, 2010.
