Zuren ( Ukrainian Цурень ; Romanian Ţureni , German (until 1918) Zurin ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast of Chernivtsi with about 900 inhabitants (2001).

Church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel

The village is located in northern Bukovina on the right bank of the Pruth , 8 km northwest of the Bantscheny community center, 16 km northwest of the Herza district center and 14 km southeast of the Chernivtsi oblast center . The T-26-04 territorial road runs through the village .

In Zuren there was a border post on the border between Austria-Hungary and the Kingdom of Romania until 1918 . The wooden church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel , built in 1796 in the village, is an architectural monument of Ukraine of national importance, but was lovelessly renovated in the past, so that hardly anything of the original church can be seen.

Until 2017, Zuren was the administrative center of the district council of the same name in the north of Herza Rajon , which also included the villages of Mamornyzja ( Маморниця , ) with around 550 inhabitants and Mamornyzja Wama ( Маморниця Вама , until 2016 Radhospivka ) with around 430 inhabitants. Zuren has been part of the rural community of Bantscheny since 2017 .
