Zuzana Vojířová from Vacovice

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zuzana Vojířová von Vacovice (* around 1560, † 1616 in Soběslav ) was a Bohemian nobleman and lady-in-waiting Peter Woks von Rosenberg . She is the subject of legends as the lover of Peter Wok and as the White Wife of Soběslav.

Life

Zuzana Vojířová came from the small noble family of Šaška Vojíř von Vacovice, which probably had its origin in Vacovice and was in the service of the Lords of Rosenberg . She was probably a daughter of the Strakonice burgrave Kryštof Saska Vojíř from Vacovice.

From 1580 on, Zuzana Vojířová belonged to the women's room at Bechyně Castle, which was newly furnished by Peter Wok for his wife Katharina von Ludanitz . In the course of time she rose from an initially low position to become the first partner of Katharina von Ludanitz at Castle Český Krumlov and accompanied her during her long illness, which was characterized by depression. After she died on June 22, 1601 at the age of 35, Zuzana Vojířová was probably given the position of hostess in the woman's room. With the relocation of the manor to Třeboň, she lived in the women's room at Třeboň from 1602 . In the summer of 1609, Peter Wok dedicated the house Špulířovský dům ( Rožmberský dům ) with a piece of park and summer house as well as the Ježkovský dvůr farm in the Tábor suburb including the village of Maškovsky hereditary to her for almost 30 years of loyal service in Soběslav .

In 1611, Peter Wok gave the ladies of the women's room with 3,000 shock Meissnian groschen in his will. In contrast, Zuzana Vojířová received a special gift. The lordly officials Theobald Hock and Matěj Dekara traveled to Soběslav on November 19, 1611 and presented the mayor with a sealed box and an accompanying document from Peter Wok. Zuzana Vojířová, who was staying at Třeboň Castle at the time, was informed of the gift deposited in the Soběslav orphanage ( sirotčí sklep ) one month after Peter Wok's death , but the council refused to hand it over despite repeated requests.

Johann Georg von Schwanberg , who had inherited the Rosenbergs in 1612, suspected Zuzana Vojířová of stealing the Rosenbergs' family jewelry that could not be found. He had her house in Soběslav sealed up and arrested and tortured. When the box was opened, however, it was not the jewelry he was looking for that came to light, but Rosenberger gold doubloons and a certificate from Peter Wok.

Zuzana Vojířová later married the Soběslav butcher Jindřich Ovčička, who drank her property. The unhappy marriage did not last long as her husband drank himself to death. Zuzana Vojířová died in 1616, Martin Zeiler describes her funeral in the Reyssbuch through Hoch and Nider Teutschland .

Afterlife

Rumors of a love affair between Peter Wok and Zuzana Vojířová were still spreading during her lifetime. These presumably came from the Jesuits , since Zuzana Vojířová as well as Peter Wok and Katharina von Ludanitz belonged to the religious community of the Bohemian Brothers . After her death, the legend of the White Woman was born in Soběslav. Furthermore, a document addressed to the Soběslav Council by Peters Wok from 1580 about the arrival of an unnamed daughter of the Soběslav miller Zikmund in Bechyně with Zuzana Vojířová was brought into connection.

Gustav Pfleger-Moravský made it the subject of his drama Della Rosa . The opera Zuzana Vojířová by Jiří Pauer and Jan Bor , premiered in 1958 and filmed in 1983 under the direction of Petr Weigl , is about their alleged romance with Peter Wok .
