In 1965, a water treatment plant , a power plant with emergency power generators and a transformer station were built on the property of the waterworks in Münster, municipality of Steinach . The supply of running water was gladly accepted by the population, so that by June 1966 the number of house connections had grown to 760. The association joined the Bavarian Municipal Auditing Association on January 1, 1969. The first water supply contract was concluded in 1975 with the municipality of Ascha , followed by the Eichelberg Group in 1976, and on March 23, 1979 the Straubing barrage was approved as a guest member. The elevated tank in Münster, which at that time already had three water chambers with a total volume of 1200 cubic meters, was renovated in 1983 . The electronics found their way into Münster in 1984 with the construction of a remote control system from the machine house to the well area and elevated tank. Due to increasing demand, the water supply in Münster also had to be expanded to include a third well that is approx. 88 meters deep. Major renovation and renewal work was carried out between 1987 and 1996, including the processing plant, doors, outdoor facilities and the boiler of the Münster waterworks . From 1997 to 2001 a washing area, a new office building and a double garage were added to the site. There were no noteworthy events until 2009, when all the main water pipes and house connections in Kößnach, Kirchroth, Steinach and Münster were renewed or renovated. The main water line DA 110 between Agendorf and Hörabach was also renewed over a length of around 680 meters using the directional drilling method . The 50th anniversary of the water supply association for the Buchberg group was celebrated in 2012. From 2010 until today work has been carried out on the creation of digital pipe network plans with initial measurement of the supply water pipes, as well as on fittings with the construction of a graphic information system.

Technical specifications

Water extraction

The water is pumped through two wells in Münster, Steinach municipality, namely well 2 and well 3 - well 1 has been shut down. Well 2 is around 43 meters deep and has a pumping capacity of around 28 liters per second, while well 3 is around 88 meters deep and pumps 24 liters per second. The total water production in 2013 was 520,000 cubic meters.

Water distribution

The elevated tank in Münster with a storage volume of 1,100 cubic meters and two pressure boosting systems for the high zones of the supply area contribute to the water distribution. The length of the water pipes is calculated from the feeder pipes (1.1 km), the main pipes (150 km) and the house connection pipes (92 km). In total, this results in about 243.1 km for 10,500 residents in the special purpose association area.
