content

When Samuel August was thirteen he fell in love with the nine year old Hanna. Shortly afterwards, Samuel August leaves school and initially does not see Hannah again. Samuel August is to work as a servant until he is eighteen. But one day the vicarage Näs near Vimmerby is offered for lease and although it is initially associated with some difficulties, Samuel August becomes the new tenant of the vicarage. In the next few years, Samuel met Hanna only rarely and by chance. At the age of 25, Samuel August observed Hanna at a meadow festival. But he doesn't dare to speak to her. So many men are interested in Hanna and Samuel August can't believe that she could choose him. At a wedding, Hanna realizes that Samuel August is in love with her and suggests that Samuel August go for a walk with her. Hanna promises to embroider a monogram on his hat. After a few months have passed and Samuel August has not seen Hanna again, Samuel August Hanna writes a letter. Hanna replies, but there is an exchange of letters until Samuel August unexpectedly meets Hanna again in Vimmerby and has tea with her. Later he asks Hanna on a walk whether they could live together. Hanna replies that the two of them couldn't decide that alone, but at least she gives Samuel August the first kiss. Before the wedding on June 30, 1905, Hanna hesitated a little, but then married Samuel August. When Samuel August brought his wife to Näs a fortnight later, they were to live there together for another 56 years. As long as he lives, Samuel August still mentions every day how much he loves his Hanna.
