Frank Gardner (politician)

Frank Gardner (born May 8, 1872 in Scottsburg , Scott County , Indiana , †  February 1, 1937 there ) was an American politician . Between 1923 and 1929 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Frank Gardner attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1896 the Borden Institute . After a subsequent law degree at Indiana University in Bloomington and his admission to the bar in 1900, he began to work in this profession in Scottsburg. Between 1903 and 1911 he was an auditor in Scott County; from 1911 to 1917 he acted there as a district attorney.

Politically, Gardner was a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1912 and 1922 he was their district chairman in Scott County. In the 1922 congressional election , Gardner was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded James W. Dunbar on March 4, 1923 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by March 3, 1929 . In 1928 he was defeated by his predecessor Dunbar, who was also his successor.

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Frank Gardner initially worked as a lawyer again. Since 1930 he has been a judge in the Indiana Sixth Judicial District. He held this office until his death on February 1, 1937 in Scottsburg.
