William F. Parrett

William Fletcher Parrett (born August 10, 1825 in Blairsville , Posey County , Indiana , †  June 30, 1895 in Evansville , Indiana) was an American politician . Between 1889 and 1893 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Parrett attended the public schools of his home country and then studied at what later became DePauw University in Greencastle . After a subsequent law degree and his license to practice law, he began to work in this profession in Evansville. He lived in Oregon between 1852 and 1854 ; after that he returned to Evansville. In 1855 Parrett moved to Boonville . Politically, he became a member of the Democratic Party . In 1858 he was elected to the Indiana House of Representatives. Between 1859 and 1888 Parrett worked as a judge in various courts.

In the congressional elections of 1888 he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the first constituency of Indiana , where he succeeded Francis B. Posey on March 4, 1889 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1893 . In 1892 he renounced another candidacy. After leaving the US House of Representatives, William Parrett practiced law again. He died in Evansville on June 30, 1895.
