Walpole G. Colerick

Walpole Gillespie Colerick (born August 1, 1845 in Fort Wayne , Indiana , †  January 11, 1911 there ) was an American politician . Between 1879 and 1883 he represented the state of Indiana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Walpole Colerick attended public schools in his home country. After a subsequent law degree and his admission as a lawyer in 1872, he began to work in Fort Wayne in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . In the congressional elections of 1878 he was elected in the twelfth constituency of Indiana in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Andrew H. Hamilton on March 4, 1879 . After re-election, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until March 3, 1883 .

Between 1883 and 1885, Walpole Colerick served as a Court Commissioner on the Supreme Court of his state. He then went back to work as a lawyer in Fort Wayne. He died there on January 11, 1911.
