Crystal Lowe (born January 20, 1981 in Vancouver, British Columbia) is a Canadian actress best known for her horror film performances of Final Destination 3, the 2006 remake of Black Christmas, and Wrong Turn 2 (2007).

Biography

Personal

Crystal was born on 20th January 1981 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada to a Chinese father and a Scottish mother. At a young age, Crystal and her family moved to Hong Kong where she grew up a few years of her life and is now fluent in Cantonese. Because of her natural beauty, Crystal then entered such modeling competitions including "Miss Teen Oriental". She has also been a sunshine calendar girl, has done various magazine covers and has been in various swimsuit competitions. She had acted at a very young age, and her mother worried that it was bad for her to be exposed to competition, so she was then not allowed to act. At the age of 15, Crystal finally got her mother's blessing, and was allowed to act.

Career

Crystal started out modeling. She was awarded Miss Teen Oriental, despite other girls' dismay, due to the fact she was only half Asian. After modeling, Crystal started acting. Her first big break was a sequel to Children of the Corn. She then started to have small roles in such films as Get Carter, and Insomnia. She also modelled for the video game Need For Speed: Underground and Fight Night 2004. She was then casted as Lily, a peace loving hippie, in an episode of Masters Of Horror. After doing Masters of Horror, she was then chosen to read for the part of Ashlyn Halperin in Final Destination 3. After amusing the directors with her acting skills, she was casted, and worked along side Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Chelan Simmons. She then moved on to have cameo roles in Scary Movie 4, and Snakes On a Plane. Around this time she also was a spokesperson for Sylvester Stallone's health product line "Instone", Wheel Company "Konig", and Coors Light. She was then called by Glen Morgan whom she worked with in Final Destination 3, to read for a part in the remake to Black Christmas. She was asked to read for the part of Heather or Dana (at the time, she was considered for Heather). Crystal was given the part of both, so she picked Dana, but she was more interested in Lauren, another character in the movie she found more appealing. After given the part of Lauren, all that was needed was the characters of Kelli, and Heather. Dana was given to Lacey Chabert. Crystal than suggested the part of Kelli, to her friend and Final Destination 3 co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Mary Elizabeth Winstead turned the role down, but was glad to play Heather. Katie Cassidy was given Kelli, and Michelle Trachtenberg was given Melissa. After finishing Black Christmas, she quickly went off to do Wrong Turn 2, thus not being available for re-shoots. In Wrong Turn 2, she plays Elena, a very competitive woman of the group who only wants to win the contest.
