Will the Dec 10 Led Zeppelin concert be televised or anything? Maybe on the internet, or are they gonna restrict it to the few thousand lucky folks that get tickets? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.101.53.160 (talk) 02:37, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

solve me

i really hate asking questions which i can get thru googling.but i dont know why i aint getting this one.and its a fun trivia or riddle i have once come across it,befor the 19th century americans had never seen it.what is it...i also remember laughing to the answer,in wikipedia therez a dood who really knows how to google,i am nnot sure of his name but his a member.i have tried his tricks of applying * to lessen my such results but noyhing comes up. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.24.99.188 (talk) 14:43, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A banana? That's what I got when I googled anyway. The * is a wildcard in google, so that would return more results, not less. The quotes are used to search for a phrase, like "americans had never seen". Recury 15:46, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's kind of hard to answer that question, it could be anything. Are you sure that was the whole riddle?--Dlo2012 (talk) 23:12, 4 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Down in Mexico" by The Coasters

The soundtrack to Death Proof features a version of "Down in Mexico" by The Coasters that is not the original. It sounds like it's from the mid- to late-1960s, with a different arrangement and slightly different lyrics. Does anybody know when this is from, and what album it originally appeared on?—Chowbok 16:46, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ten re-recordings in New Jersey by Carl Gardner´s revival group (including a new version of "Love Potion...") plus six Billy Guy-recordings from 1963. With the same running order the LP is reissued on CD as "Greatest Hits".

Note: the familiar titles are Gardner´s Coasters re-recordings for Trip, not the Atco tracks. Others from Guy´s Double-L session. It is not confirmed that the Springboard LP contains the above recordings. See also TVP-LP below; and MasterTone CDs of 1997. The ten Gardner-led recordings are reissued on several different CDs - (a.o. "Golden Hits" on Master ITC) and several have a couple or more of the Guy tracks too.

In decending order of greatness: Das Boot, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Lawrence of Arabia, Saving Private Ryan, The Longest Day, Zulu, The Dam Busters, No Man's Land, and chuck in the lightweight but fun Enemy at the Gates. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 00:36, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So if you believe Duncan and I, good war movies are probably British, probably about WW2, and probably have quite a high talk:killing ratio. If that doesn't appeal to you, just watch Starship Troopers, which has no such demerits. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 00:56, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

More deep and brooding than action-packed, but one of my all-time favorites is The Deer Hunter. —Steve Summit (talk) 01:54, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Paths of Glory and Oh! What a Lovely War are both set in World War I and both give cause to reflect on the futility of war, but are great entertainment besides. -- JackofOz (talk) 02:31, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
A decided tilt to antiwar movies here, and yet nobody has mentioned Apocalypse Now. More on the entertaining side and getting back to good old WW2, how about The Great Escape (which is mostly a true story, too), Battle of Britain (likewise), and The Guns of Navarone? And as a railway fan, I must recommend The Train, whose heroes are railwaymen working with the French Resistance to try to stop the German army from looting a trainload of art before the Allied armies arrive. (No army-vs.-army combat; the action scenes involve trains.) Sink the Bismarck! is a true story featuring the British navy, with extensive scenes of strategy set at naval headquarters as well as naval combat scenes. And then there's Patton (in which most of the combat action occurs in the first part of the film). And WW2 spy movies -- Eye of the Needle and Enigma come to mind at once. --Anonymous, 03:08 UTC, December 9, 2007.
The Battle of the River Plate is always welcome in this home, as is The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp. DuncanHill (talk) 03:14, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Translation for American readers: "River Plate" = Rio de la Plata, Argentina/Uruguay; "Battle of the River Plate" = Pursuit of the Graf Spee. Going to a much earlier war, Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World has some rousing action sequences. --Anon, 04:28, Dec. 9, 2007.

Song name

I heard a song which sounded very familiar today, but couldn't place it so I picked up some of the lyrics to Google later. I've tried but can't find the song. I'm sure it's like "higher and higher, deeper and deeper, further and further" and then something about deeper than the deepest "sea" and higher than the highest "mountain." This seems like such a popular and common song but Googling those lyrics plus the word lyrics seems to yield either a whole bunch of songs which don't seem right or none at all. Any help? Thanks. --Fbv65edeltc // 05:50, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The name of this drama...?

It's a american drama showing on one of the major channels. I think that the producer(s?) are gay, and one/two of the characters are gay. And, (i think), it had an accurate portrayal of the gay characters.

This sounds somewhat like Angels in America, but it was released in 2003. -- JackofOz (talk) 08:10, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, are there any good/interesting British(or anything but American) crime dramas/police procedurals? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.156.91.140 (talk) 16:37, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The best British crime drama ever was a show called The Cops. It only ran for two series, hardly anyone saw it and even fewer remember it now and it's never been released on DVD. But, if you can track it down, it's fantastic. There's some information about it here. --Richardrj talk email 18:01, 9 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting British crime drama/police procedural: Life on Mars (TV). Although take care not to read too much of the article if you're planning on watching it. Might even be better not to read past the lede. I hear an American remake was cast and a pilot made, but the strike has interfered. In any case, I'm not sure it would work without John Simm; it could have been very bad, yet somehow wasn't.
And I suppose if you're looking at that, you might want to investigate The Sweeney. Inspector Morse was very popular and critically well reviewed, you could also look at Cadfael. For more in the way of detective/murder investigation (not necessarily involving police) there are many more options, but I'm unsure if that's what you want. Skittle (talk) 04:59, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How could I neglect to mention Midsomer Murders, a strange police procedural/murder investigation programme set in a fictional rural county with an alarmingly high murder rate that nobody seems to comment on. It's one of the programmes that almost every aspiring actor seems to appear in. Skittle (talk) 05:06, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There are a few Australian police dramas, although many of them have been wrapped up for a while. I can't make any comment on the quality, since I never watched any, but they have included: Blue Heelers, Stingers, Water Rats, Phoenix (TV series) and its spin-off Janus (TV series), Cop Shop, and one of the original cop dramas, Homicide (TV series) (not to be confused with about 5 other series with similar titles). I really enjoyed Jeremy Brett's portrayal of Sherlock Holmes. Straying a bit from the drama/procedural format, I have also enjoyed Lovejoy and Torchwood. Hot Fuzz was a riot. --— Gadget850 (Ed) talk - 03:15, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The following discussion has been closed. Please do not modify it.

I installed the Caesar IV game in my pc and started it. The game started but all I see is white screen though I can hear the music running in the background. When the music stops the Caesar IV cursor appears but the white screen is still there. I can move around the cursor and could even blindly press the menu buttons of the game. But I cannot see anything. What could be wrong? The total display memory of my pc is 64 MB (I got this info from the DirectX diagnostic tool that one gets by typing "dxdiag" in the "run" program in start menu). I got the same problem previously with harry potter 3 but when i modified certain settings like color depth in the .ini file I could see everything again. I tried this with Caesar IV too. The second time I couldn't find this page, could someone assist me in finding it again? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.191.102.55 (talk) 02:55, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Artemis Fowl (film). The list you speak of was probably deleted for crystalballing.--SeizureDog (talk) 04:11, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Did Kim and Chris get married during Dju Vui Vai? because if they did, wouldn't that make Chris' marriage to Ellen null? -Yamanbaiia (talk) 19:05, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think that calls for interpretation. I was able to find something that appears to be the script for the show (but I won't link it here, because it is also probably a copyright violation), but I will excerpt it:

CHRIS

it's pretty but what does it mean?
KIM
it's what all the girls sing at weddings
(CHRIS looks up, startled)
KIM
they didn't know what else to sing

So . . . based on that snippet, I'd say no, there was no actual marriage, since Kim seems to be saying "hey, they're just singing something that sort of fits." And of course it goes without saying that applying strict logic and laws to a musical drama doesn't really work. --LarryMac | Talk 19:27, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
They did get married during Dju Vui Vai, i just listened The Fall of Saigon and Kim sings: "i'm the wife of a soldier" and "my husband is waiting inside"; and Chris sings "my bride is outside". So, i"m replying to myself. Thanks Larrymac. -Yamanbaiia (talk) 22:12, 11 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hit songs with odd time signtures

Has there ever been a Billboard 200 #1 hit in a time signature that is not 4/4? A top 10 hit maybe? NIRVANA2764 (talk) 00:30, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"El Paso" (January 1960) and "Time in a Bottle" (December 1973) are in 3/4. – I'll bet most of the answers are 6/8; if my aural memory is accurate, they include "To Know Him Is to Love Him" (December 1958); "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)" (December 1958); "Runaround Sue" (October 1961); "Blue Velvet" (September 1963); "Chapel of Love" (June 1964); "Baby Love" (October 1964); "Mrs. Brown, You've Got a Lovely Daughter" (May 1965); "Help Me Rhonda" (May 1965); "Penny Lane" (March 1967); "This Guy's in Love with You" (June 1968); "Wedding Bell Blues" (November 1969); "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" (January 1970); "(They Long to Be) Close to You" (July 1970); "A Horse With No Name" (March 1972); "Song Sung Blue" (July 1972); "My Ding-a-Ling" (October 1972); "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" (January 1975); "Call Me (Blondie song)" (April 1980); "It's Still Rock and Roll to Me" (July 1980); "Kiss from a Rose" (August 1995). – What about "The Candy Man" (June 1972), "Alone Again (Naturally)" (July 1972), "Crocodile Rock" (February 1973)? I don't remember them well enough to be sure. —Tamfang (talk) 07:21, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

dummy language in Coupling

(Or does this belong on Language Desk?) In Coupling episode 1x05 "The Girl with Two Breasts", we see a conversation between Jeff and a mystery woman who speaks only Hebrew; then the conversation is repeated with the woman speaking English and Jeff speaking what sounds vaguely like Spanish but isn't. (I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't Welsh.) So – was it a real language? —Tamfang (talk) 05:07, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
