Inspector Morse, Homicide Commission Oxford (also Inspector Morse , original title: Inspector Morse ) is a British crime series of the television channel Independent Television , which is based on the novels Colin Dexter . After 7 seasons (1987-1993) with a total of 28 episodes, another 5 episodes were produced between 1995 and 2000 and broadcast as specials. So far, only the first two seasons have been shown in Germany.
characters
- DI, later DCI Endeavor Morse ( John Thaw ), an Oxford policeman with an incredible flair for solving crimes. He is a fan of Scotch, Wagner and The Archers and likes to track down spelling and grammatical errors. His assistant Lewis supports him in his cases.
- DS Robert Lewis ( Kevin Whately ), a young policeman who is almost as good at solving puzzles as Morse himself, who was given him as an assistant.

Spin-off and prequel
From 2007 to 2015, a spin-off series was produced with Lewis , which focuses on the adventures of Robert Lewis, who has now been promoted to Detective Inspector and who now serves as a mentor for a young and relatively inexperienced police officer.
The prequel series Endeavor has been running on ITV since 2012 . She tells about the young detective constable Endeavor Morse ( Shaun Evans ). John Thaw's daughter Abigail plays the role of Dorothea Frazil .
This series has been broadcast on ZDFneo under the name Der Junge Inspektor Morse since September 3, 2017 .
