New Rochelle High School is a public high school located in New Rochelle, New York. The school is a part of the City School District of New Rochelle, named one of the 'Top 20 School Districts' in the nation by the Wall Street Journal.[citation needed]
New Rochelle High School, twice named a national Blue Ribbon School of Excellence, offers over 240 courses, including honors, research and advanced placement courses. 96% of NRHS graduates attend college or other institutions of higher learning. Complementing the instructional program, multiple co- and extracurricular activities and interscholastic sports offer students numerous opportunities for developing leadership skills, providing community service and extending intellectual, social, artistic and athletic interests. NRHS is also one of the most diverse high schools in the country; the student body represents over 200 different countries from around the world.

The Performing And Visual Arts Education program at NRHS is a unique program devoted to:
Preparing the talented students to meet the demands necessary for their success, both academically and professionally, and by providing them with a broader knowledge, scope, insight, & balance in a comprehensive program of creative & artistic works.
Acknowledging their heritage in the New Rochelle community through a curriculum which reflects and expresses this diversity.

Empowering them to become leaders in the arts by developing their creativity, self-esteem, respect, mind and body, and their role as artists.
The different majors offered are Visual Arts, Theater, Vocal Music, Orchestra, Band and Dance.
Science Research
New Rochelle High School's three-year program offers students the opportunity to participate in the community of scientific research and scholarship as part of their high school experience. In addition to class, formal individual meetings are held once a week. Students select a topic of interest and explore this topic through library research, person to person conversations with research scientists throughout the country, and telecommunication to research and college libraries. Students develop sophisticated data collecting and lab skills by completing a literature search, formulating a research question, articulating hypotheses, collecting and analyzing data, and presenting their findings to a bona fide scientific audience (e.g., The Intel Talent Search, the New York State Science Symposium, and local and regional science fairs).
Extracurriculars
- The Science Olympiad is #1 in the region.
- The school's Academic Team is #14 in the nation after the 2007 National Academic Championship.
- The Model Congress Club is the oldest of all the participating New York suburban high schools from Westchester and Long Island.
Facilities
Unlike most suburban schools which tend to be crammed in densely populated town centers, New Rochelle High School is situated at the rear of a massive plot of land, fronted by Lake Huguenot and public park space, exercise trails and a stream. It is designed in the French-Gothic style and boasts a working clocktower, indoor swimming facilities, 8 tennis courts, 2 football fields and a Planetarium.
