The 16th arrondissement, located on the Right Bank is one of the 20 arrondissements of Paris, France. The arrondissement hosts the famous Avenue Foch which is the widest in Paris, as well as the mainly residential district of Auteuil and Passy. This arrondissement hosts a large number of international embassies in France.
The 16th arrondissement hosts the sport venues of the Parc des Princes, which is the stadium of Paris SG football club, and the tennis French Open site of Roland-Garros. The Bois de Vincennes is also located in this arrondissement.
Demography
The peak of population of Paris 16th arrondissement happened in 1962 with 227,418 inhabitants. At last census in 1999, the population was of 161,773 inhabitants. The 16th arrondissement is also heavily charged in business activity and hosted in 1999 106,971 jobs. The land area of this arrondissement is of 16.305 km² (6.295 sq. miles), of which the largest part hosts the the wide Bois de Boulogne. Excluding the Bois de Boulogne, its land area is of 7.846 km² (3.029 sq. miles).
It is commonly known as the richest part of Paris (see Auteuil-Neuilly-Passy) and features some of the highest house prices in France. It is also the only arrondissement in Paris with two separate postal codes. In the Southern part of the arrondissement, the postal code is 75016 whereas in the northern part, it is 75116.
