The attendance in the Grand Final was the first 100,000 in the league history and the attendance record of 115,802 was held until the 1968 Grand Final. During the first quarter of Grand Final, the doors were shut to prevent the overcrowding following that many spectators sat along the boundary line. During the third quarter, the outer fence was broken in to allow 15,000 people flowing in. This would be an ultimate record of 130,000 watching the football match - unofficial highest-ever in Australia.
