Please do not add speculation into the Live 8 article. Thank you. --Madchester 23:08, 2005 Jun 17 (UTC)

And I can say that I'm going to be headling the event.

Wikpedia only works when people can add information from verfiable sources. If it didn't work that way, then people could simply make up their own facts to further their own agenda.

Welcome

Hello Jbfraser, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Thank you for uploading Image:Live 8 barrie.jpg. Its copyright status is unclear, so it may have to be deleted. Please leave a note on the image page about the source of the image. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags, for a list of copyright tags, that you can use. Thank you. DoubleBlue (Talk) 8 July 2005 22:33 (UTC)

Images need both source information so that the legality of its use on Wikipedia can be verified. The copyright tag makes it easier to categorize pages and saves people time (so they don't have to look up the copyright status themselves every time). The copyright tag is also important when users upload images they have not released anywhere else, because they need to specify the licensing information. The copyright notice at the web page you retrieved the image from (http://today.reuters.com/HelpAndInfo/Copyright.aspx) states that "Republication or redistribution of Reuters content, including by framing or similar means, is expressly prohibited without the prior written consent of Reuters."
The only way we could use it on Wikipedia is if you receive written permission from Reuters, or you claim it as fair use. If you do decide to claim it as a fair use image, tag it with {{Fairusein|ARTICLENAME}} and provide a fair use rationale similar to the one below:
== Fair use for [[ARTICLE NAME]] ==
The image linked here is claimed to be used under fair use as:
# Its inclusion adds significantly to the article because it shows the article's subject
# The photo is used non-commercially, for informational purposes only
# It is a historically significant photo
# It is of much lower resolution than the original, and copies made from it will be of inferior quality
# Its use is unlikely to affect its potential market or value
~~~~
Be sure to customize the rationale for this particular image. Also, please note that this image probably wouldn't qualify as fair use for the Park Place article, which is the only place that it is currently located. It doesn't show the park really... it might work at Live 8 concert, Barrie though. ~MDD4696 22:26, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Park Place
Once again no advertising on Wikipedia. You can simply provide external links to sites that already contain that information (a full list of past performers at Park Place). If you look at other similar concert venues like Molson Amphitheatre, Radio City Music Hall, Bowery Ballroom, Paris Olympia, Hammersmith Apollo, etc, none of them contain full year-by-year listings. They do include selected acts; which has already been indicated in the article with the mention of Edgefest and Warped Tour. Anything more adds clutter to an article. --Madchester 07:26, July 13, 2005 (UTC)
I wish I had more details... but nope... :-P --Madchester 15:46, August 7, 2005 (UTC)
Flag
Go into your preferences at the top of the screen, and put it into your nickname. As you can see, I have changed it to the NDP logo, because I wanted to stay unique! -- Earl Andrew - talk 20:48, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Wikimedia Canada
Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 17:11, 20 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
From the Editor
Welcome to the inaugural edition of the WikiProject Professional wrestling newsletter! I hope this will be a good source of news to those people interested in what's happening around our pro wrestlimg community. I plan to release it every Sunday.
This newsletter will just be a way to get the community announcements to people who don't have the time to check the mesageboards, as well that to those just curious about the news. The newsleter will consist of a project news section (to do with what's happening on Wikipedia), and a current events section (relating to news in the "real world"). The newslette will also contain the Collaboration of the Week announcement.
That's all. If you have any feedback or suggestions, please post them at this talk page.
