Duration | 2007- | ||||||||

Kayleigh Morton, played by Jessica Barden, is a fictional character on the soap opera Coronation Street.
Kayleigh arrived on Coronation Street on 18th March 2007 with her dad, grandad and siblings Jodie, Mel and Darryl. Her family were giving their neighbours headaches after just a few hours on the street with their loud music.
On her first day at Weatherfield High Sophie Webster and Chesney Battersby-Brown told her about the teachers and Sophie told Kayleigh how the teachers would take her rings off of her. Instead of going to school she went home and when Jerry found her he asked why she wasn't at school. An argument ensued and Kayleigh snapped that she wished she could go back and live with her mum. Realising he couldn't keep her with him against her will, Jerry was forced to agree to Kayleigh's wishes and phoned Teresa. Kayleigh was delighted to be going back to live with her mum but it was clear that Jerry was devastated. Kayleigh left the following day.
A pattern soon emerged of her regular and lengthy visits to her father's house. Jodie noticed how Kayleigh was very quick at eating her breakfast and that she kept requesting money. After several days, Jerry offered to drop her off as he was suspicious of the situation. It turned out that Teresa had gone on holiday and left Kayleigh to look after her six year old half-brother Finlay whilst she was away. As a result of this, she has temporarily moved back into her dad's house with Finlay. Teresa turned up a few weeks later. Jerry had taken her TV away and several other electrical items. She didn't seem that bothered about her kids and only wanted her TV back. She agreed to let Jerry keep the kids if she could have her telly back. Jerry agreed to this.
Kayleigh was furious when she found out that Jodie had stolen Chesney's dog Schmical. Jodie had been involved in a feud with Chesney's mum Cilla Battersby-Brown for weeks as the Mortons take away business had stolen the chip shops (where Cilla worked) customers. Kayleigh found out and returned the dog to Chesney.
On 3 September 2007, Kayleigh got drunk with her friends. The girls were alone in a house and Jodie was annoyed when Kayleigh phoned asking to be picked up. Jerry was on his date with Eileen Grimshaw and was unable to pick her up. (Jodie couldn't do it as she'd had a drink). Lloyd Mullaney offered to pick Kayleigh up in his taxi. When they arrived back, it was revealed that Kayleigh had been sick in the back seat. Jerry was furious when he found out and informed Kayleigh that she was grounded.
More recently, Kayleigh acted up when Eileen Grimshaw, Jerry's new girlfriend babysat her while Jodie went out on a date with local cabbie, Lloyd Mullaney. Kayleigh tried to sneak out of the house but was caught. She later lied to Jodie about Eileen hitting her.

Wilfred Morton

Coronation Street character
Portrayed by | Rodney Litchfield
First appearance | 29 January 2007
|
Wilfred "Wilf" Morton is a fictional character in ITV's Coronation Street, played by Rodney Litchfield.
Wilfred arrived on Coronation Street with his granddaughter, Jodie. He called Dev Alahan "chief", which Dev took to be a racist comment. However, Jodie explained that Wilfred was not good with names and that this was simply his method of addressing people informally.
Wilf is an ex-jailbird with an extensive criminal record, mostly off the back of his tendency to take part in a quick scam - a trait that many members of his family have inherited. On discovering granddaughter Mel's plans to join the police, he claimed it was like "being stabbed". However, despite his former misdemeanours, Wilf does hold his family dear; realising that his past record may affect Mel (or "Melanie", as he insists on calling her) and her application to join the Police Force, Wilf "faked" his death on Father's Day, 2007, submitting a false obituary to the Weatherfield Gazette. This action led to Blanche Hunt and Deirdre Barlow believing he was, indeed, dead - with the former arranging her own wake (despite still being very much alive) as a result.

Freddie's mother Claire started suffering from Post Natal Depression soon after Freddie was born. She believed that Freddie wasn't her own and that she had got the wrong baby. On one occasion, she pushed his pram into the path of an oncoming vehicle but luckily the driver stopped before hitting him. His mother was then sectioned and was soon well enough to come home and look after him again
In October 2006, Claire announced that she would like to have his name changed from Thomas to Freddie, after his paternal grandfather (who had died only a week before), so Thomas's name was changed accordingly. In December 2006 he was christened Frederick Thomas, with Eileen Grimshaw as his godmother, and Roy Cropper as his godfather.
Freddie went missing when he was taken by Claire's friend, who she met through the Weatherfield Women In Crisis hotline, Casey Carswell. Casey meant no harm, but was offended when Claire called the police when she found Freddie missing.
In May 2007, after his father and half-brother Josh went out for a few days, Claire's neighbour Eileen put Freddie to bed and Claire herself went to bed shortly after. Not long after, she was woken by the smoke alarm, and to her shock found a fire was had been started in Freddie's bedroom. Claire fell down the stairs into unconsciousness, but was soon rescued by Jamie and Kirk. As news spread that Freddie had not been rescued from the fire, residents believed the worse. It wasn't until Ashley returned on May 21 to the Street and spoke to investigators, that they informed the couple that Freddie had not been in the house when the fire began.
Freddie was found later in the day wrapped up in a local park. It was revealed that the fire was started deliberately by use of an accelerant which led to confusion for his parents. Originally, this storyline was to last several months, not one day, but it was changed to avoid upsetting the family of Madeleine McCann, who disappeared two weeks earlier, and has still not been found.[citation needed]
In September 2007 the identity of Freddie's abductor was revealed to be Casey, who abducted Freddie and took him to the balcony of her flat where she threatened to jump with him. Fortunately Casey did not jump and Freddie was unharmed. Casey was arrested on the spot. Him parents briefly split but have now got back together.
