The 7th of June 1968 a member of the Guardia Civil (a Spanish police corp), José Ángel Pardines Arcay, was killed by Javier Etxebarrieta Ortiz "Txabi" and Iñaki Sarasketa. Both members of ETA, an illegal Basque separatist group considered to be terrorists by the Spanish Government.
