Oiartzun ( Spanish Oyarzun ) is a municipality in the province of Guipúzcoa in the Autonomous Region of the Basque Country . The city was already known as Oiasso or Oiarso in Roman times .
Alfonso VIII of Castile granted Oiartzun city rights, but it took some time before Errenteria became independent .
