Domingo Perurena Telletxea , also Txomin Perurena Telletxea , (born December 15, 1943 in Oiartzun ) is a former Spanish cyclist . He was one of the most successful road racers in his country from the 1960s to the 1970s.

As an amateur , Domingo Perurena won the silver medal in the team time trial over 100 kilometers at the UCI Road World Championships in Lasarte-Oria in 1965 , together with Ventura Diaz Arrey , José-Manuel Lopéz Rodríguez and José Manuel Lasa .

From 1966 to 1979 Perurena worked as a professional . During these years he achieved numerous victories, especially in races in Spain and France . His first victory as a professional driver was in the spring of 1966 in the race from Bordeaux to Saintes . He started 14 times in the Vuelta a España alone . In 1972 and 1974 he won the points classification , in 1972 he wore the overall leader's maillot amarillo for eleven days and in 1974 for seven days. In 1975 he was second overall. He also won a total of twelve stages. In 1974 he won the mountain classification of the Tour de France . He took part in the UCI road world championships five times and finished eighth in 1974 . In 1973 and 1975 he was Spanish road racing champion.

Other successes included winning the Setmana Catalana de Ciclisme in 1967 , the Gran Premio de Llodio in 1969 and 1970, the Tour of Valencia in 1972, the Tour of Catalonia in 1973 , the Navarra GP and the Miguel Indurain Grand Prix . In 1971 and 1977 he also won the Klasika Primavera . In total, he recorded 94 stage victories on various tours in the course of his sporting career . At the end of his career as a professional driver, he had won 160 victories. Twice he started the Six Days of Madrid , in 1966, he took along with Jose Manuel Lopez Rodriguez third place, and in 1970 won the two drivers.

After finishing his active sports career, Perurena became the sports director of various teams .
