Ángel Luis Casero Moreno (born September 27, 1972 in Albalat dels Tarongers , Valencia Province ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Career

Ángel Casero turned professional in 1994 for the Spanish cycling team Banesto . The greatest success of his career was winning the Vuelta a España in 2001 . He competed in the Vuelta a España ten times and was able to place second in 2000 and sixth in 2002 . In the Tour de France , he was in 1999 fifth. The title at the Spanish road championships in 1998 and 1999 was his best result in the one-day races .

After the end of the 2005 season, Casero ended his career. In 2006 it became known that the name Casero had been identified as one of the customers of the accused Eufemiano Fuentes during the investigation into the doping scandal Fuentes by the Guardia Civil .

In 2015, Ángel Casero and his brother Rafael , also a former cyclist, made another attempt to revive the Tour of Valencia with the help of sponsor commitments. The race was entered in category 2.1 of the UCI Europe Tour 2016 for February 2016.
