Peter Brogle

Peter Brogle (born June 22, 1933 in Basel , † March 27, 2006 in Zurich ) was a Swiss actor .

Life

Brogle learned the acting profession at the age of 17 at the stage studio in Zurich. He received his first theater engagement in 1952 at the Schauspielhaus Zurich , where he also appeared again and again in later years (until 1996). Further stage stations were u. a. the Burgtheater in Vienna (1958–1960) and the Basler Theater (1969–1975). In 1961 Brogle played the main role of "Andri" in the world premiere of Max Frisch ' Andorra , whom he also played in 1964 in the television film of the same name by Gert Westphal .

Brogle has made guest appearances on many German-speaking stages in Cologne, Berlin, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Salzburg and the Ruhr Festival in Recklinghausen . He also appeared as a tightrope walker and clown in the Circus Royal .

In 1979 Brogle , who was awarded the Hans Reinhart Ring for his artistic achievements, also founded his own vaudeville stage with Peter Brogles Schaubude .

In 1955 Brogle made his feature film debut in Kurt Früh's comedy Polizischt Wäckerli . This was followed by roles in other productions by Früh, Jakobli in Franz Schnyder's film adaptations of Jeremias Gotthelf's novella Anne Bäbi Jowäger , in Leopold Lindtberg's television play Der Meteor according to Friedrich Dürrenmatt , alongside Dieter Laser in the drama The Elixirs of the Devil according to ETA Hoffmann and the leading role as Stroszek in Werner Herzog's Signs of Life (after Achim von Arnim ).

Peter Brogle was married to the actress Kathrin Schmid . Due to a heart condition, he retired from his job in 2003. On March 27, 2006, he died in Zurich of acute heart failure .
