Simón Febrer Serra (born May 18, 1895 in Felanitx ; † January 27, 1989 ibid) was a Spanish cyclist . He was one of the first cycling stars in Spain.
On Easter Monday, 1912 Simón Febrer tried on the velodrome Tirador ( Palma ) to establish a new speed record of over 100 kilometers. The attempt failed, which, according to the press, was due to the strong wind.
In 1915 in Bilbao and in 1918 in Seville , Febrer was Spanish road racing champion . This made him the first Mallorcan to win a national title outside of his home island. In 1914, 1915, 1916 and 1918 he was the Spanish champion in the standing race , in 1917 he was runner-up. His biggest competitor on rail and road was José Magdalena .
Febrer was one of the first to stay on the island, and he established a tradition of standing races on Mallorca, from where the world champions Guillermo Timoner and Miguel Mas come from. Most of the Spanish championships in standing races also took place in Palma.
Simón Febrer died in his hometown at the age of 93.
