José Iván Gutiérrez Palacios (born November 27, 1978 in Hinojedo , Cantabria ) is a former Spanish cyclist .

Athletic career

After José Iván Gutiérrez had won the U23 individual time trial title at the 1999 road world championships, he joined the ONCE cycling team in 2000 and ended his career with the UCI ProTeam Movistar at the end of the 2014 season .

Among the greatest successes of his career was the silver medal in the time trial of the 2005 road world championships, the Spanish road racing championships in 2001 and the time trial in 2000, 2004, 2005 and 2007. Gutiérrez is also a two-time winner of the Eneco Tour . In 2004 he started at the Olympic Games in Athens ; he did not finish the road race and finished 15th in the time trial.
