Escalada a Montjuïc

The Escalada a Montjuïc was a two sections cycling - day races in the Catalan Barcelona , which was held from 1965 to 2007.

With the exception of the first event in March 1965, the race took place every year in October, making it one of the last cycle races of the season. It was considered the end of the Spanish cycling season.

The event in 2005 was part of the racing calendar of the UCI Europe Tour 2006 and was classified in category 1.2. In 2006 and 2007 the competition was held as a national race. It was organized by the Esport Ciclista Barcelona .

The race was held in one day but was divided into two sections. The first section consisted of a circuit race . The drivers had to cover 24.3 kilometers on a circuit on Barcelona's "local mountain", Montjuïc , which had to be bypassed five times . This was followed by the second section, an 8.7 kilometer individual time trial over Montjuïc. The winner of the race was the driver who, adding up the times from both stages, needed the least time for the route.

In addition to the professional races, there were also other races for women, juniors and even tandem teams.
