Daniel "Dani" Moreno Fernández (born September 5, 1981 in Madrid ) is a Spanish cyclist .
Career
Daniel Moreno began his career in 2004 as a stagiaire with the Spanish cycling team Relax-Bodysol . In the following year Moreno signed his first professional contract there and was able to land his first successes with second places at the Prueba Villafranca de Ordizia and in the overall ranking of the Tour of Andalusia . In 2006 he again achieved good placements. In May he finished third at the Clasica Alcobendas and second at the Volta ao Alentejo , and he was also able to win a stage in both races. He finished the overall ranking of the Burgos Tour in third place overall.
With his move to the UCI ProTeam Caisse d'Epargne in 2008, Moreno further established himself in professional cycling. In addition to stage wins at the Euskal Bizikleta and the Vuelta a Chihuahua , he particularly attracted attention with good placements at the Vuelta a España .
At the beginning of the 2010 season, Moreno was in the service of the Belgian Omega Pharma-Lotto team and did not achieve any victories this year. After moving to Katusha just a year later , his career picked up again. In 2011 he won a mountain finish in the Vuelta and was ninth overall , despite helping Joaquim Rodríguez . In 2012 he won two stages at the Critérium du Dauphiné and surpassed his performance at the Vuelta last year with fifth place. In 2013, he first won the Fleche Wallone in spring and already after nine stages had two stage successes at the Vuelta , as well as the lead in the overall classification, the points classification and the combined classification.
In 2016 Moreno won the bronze medal in road racing at the European Road Championships .
