Félicien Vervaecke

Félicien Vervaecke (born March 11, 1907 in Dadizele , † October 31, 1986 in Brussels ) was a Belgian cyclist .

Félicien Vervaecke was a professional racing driver from 1930 to 1939. His greatest successes were in the Tour de France . In 1934 he was fourth overall, in 1935 third and won the mountain classification. In 1936 he again finished third in the overall ranking and won a stage, in 1937 he won the mountain ranking for the second time. In 1938 he finished second in the tour, second in the mountain classification, won four stages and wore the yellow jersey for eight days .

In 1934 Vervaecke was the first Belgian to win a stage of the Giro d'Italia . In 1939 he was the Belgian runner-up in the single pursuit on the track . He also won a number of smaller races.

Félicien Vervaecke was the younger brother of the cyclist Julien Vervaecke . After finishing his cycling career, he opened a bicycle shop in Brussels and he was Eddy Merckx's first manager .
