The Recession is the third major studio album by rapper Young Jeezy, released on September 2, 2008.[2]

History

The first single, "Put On", is produced by Drumma Boy and Kanye West, and features Kanye West using an Auto-Tune effect.[3] The second single, "Vacation", was released on August 12, 2008 on his website www.USDA2DAY.com.[4] Production will come from DJ Toomp, Shawty Redd, Don Cannon, and Drumma Boy.[5] The Recession was first leaked onto the internet on August 26 by [6], one week prior to it's official release date. On September 12th Young Jeezy released a third single My President the video release of this song is still unknown

On 106 & Park, Jeezy stated that he is also making a hit single with a future artist named King Washington and he also stated that the material on this album was like "Thug Motivation on steroids".[7]

Sales

The album debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 selling 260,000 copies in its first week of sales. The second week the album sold 90,000 copies more.[10] This is Young Jeezy's 2nd number one album. After its third week of sales, the album had sold a total of 410,384 copies. In its fourth week of sales, the album sold another 40,000 copies, bringing the total to 450,000 copies. In its fifth week of sales, the album sold another 39,000 copies, bringing the total to 489,000 copies.
