Jeezy (born September 28, 1977 in Columbia , South Carolina ; real name Jay Wayne Jenkins ), formerly known as Young Jeezy , is an American rapper who lives in Atlanta . He is currently under contract with Def Jam , formerly with the hip-hop group Boyz n Da Hood for Bad Boy Records .
music
After the single And Then What in June 2005, his first solo album Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 was released on July 26, 2005 . This brought him and his label Def Jam double platinum (over 2,000,000 records sold) and thus an unforeseeable success. The album was number 1 on the US charts for a week . His trademark, the Adlibs (e.g. “yeeeah” or “let's get it”) are also the starting point of his critics, who accuse him of poor text quality.
In 2005 Young Jeezy appeared in numerous singles by other rappers and singers such as B. Soul Survivor starred Akon, the successful single from Gucci Mane So Icy and Dem Boyz from Boyz n Da Hood starred. He was also involved in the remix of Mariah Carey's hit Shake It Off with Jay-Z . On December 12th 2006 his second solo album The Inspiration: Thug Motivation 102 was released.
After he had his own biggest hit in the charts in 2005 with Soul Survivor at number 4 on the US charts, he made it to the top of the singles charts in 2008 together with Usher and his hit Love in This Club .
His album The Recession was released on September 2, 2008 . The first single was called Put On , which he recorded with Kanye West and which was released on May 2, 2008. The second single was called Vacation . The album sold over 500,000 times.
