She also previously held the associate concertmaster chair of the Colorado Symphony and was assistant concertmaster of the Grant Park (IL) Orchestra. Roland and Almita Vamos are a husband and wife who are among the leading violin and viola instructors in the world.[1] Their pupils have become prominent soloists, members of world-renowned chamber groups and orchestras, and laureates of prestigious international competitions. The Vamoses have been recognized at the White House seven times and were named Distinguished Teachers by the National Endowment for the Arts. They have been honored by the American String Teachers Association (ASTA) with the Distinguished Service Award, and showcased on CBS' Sunday Morning News.

Roland Vamos studied with Oscar Shumsky and William Lincer at the Juilliard School. Almita Vamos studied with Mischa Mischakoff and Louis Persinger at the Juilliard School. A performing artist of the highest caliber, she won the prestigious Concert Artist Guild award in New York City along with many other prizes.

Dr. and Mrs. Vamos are members of the faculty at the Music Institute of Chicago and the Chicago College of Performing Arts. Prior to their position at the Chicago College of Performing Arts, they were on faculty at Northwestern University, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, University of Minnesota, and Western Illinois University.

Ms. Oshiro-Morales began violin studies when she was three years old. She studied with Almita and Roland Vamos at Oberlin Conservatory, where she received the Dean’s Talent Award scholarship. She continued her studies at the Juilliard School with Robert Mann, the founder and former first violinist of the Juilliard Quartet.

In the summers Ms. Oshiro-Morales has been a guest artist at the Sun Valley Summer (ID) Symphony, the Cactus Pear Music Festival (TX), the Grand Teton Music Festival (WY), the National Orchestral Institute (MD), and the Innsbrook Institute (MO), among others.
