Viola Reggio Calabria is the name traditionally given to the main men's professional basketball team from the city Reggio Calabria, Italy. The team colors are black and orange.
The name comes from Cestistica Piero Viola, a basketball team founded in 1966 by the judge Giuseppe Viola in honor of his dead brother Piero, and which folded at the end of 1997. A new team was founded in 1998 and soon renamed to Basket Viola Reggio Calabria, but this new team again went bankrupt at the end of 2007.
A new team, Team Basket Viola, was founded in 2009, starting from Serie B Dilettanti, the fourth-tier professional basketball league in Italy.
