Viola Reggio Calabria is the name traditionally given to the main men's professional basketball team from the city Reggio Calabria, Italy. The team colors are black and orange.
The name comes from the glorious Cestistica Piero Viola, a basketball team founded in 1966 by the judge Giuseppe Viola in honor of his died brother Piero. The Cestistica failed at the end of 1997, then a new team was founded in 1998 (Basket Viola Reggio Calabria) and soon transformed in Basket Viola Reggio Calabria until bankrupt at the end of 2007.
A new team (Team Basket Viola) has been founded in 2009, ready to start from Serie B Dilettanti, the fourth men's professional basketball league in Italy.
