(10878) Moriyama is an asteroid of the main belt , which on November 3, 1996 by Japanese astronomers Yasukazu Ikari at the observatory Moriyama ( IAU code 900) in the city of Moriyama in the Japanese prefecture of Shiga was discovered.

The asteroid was named after the town of Moriyama on the east bank of Lake Biwa , which is also home to the observatory used for the discovery.
