(11577) Einasto is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 8 February 1994 by the Belgian astronomer Eric Walter Elst at the La Silla Observatory ( IAU code 809) of the European Southern Observatory in Chile was discovered.
The asteroid was named after the Estonian astronomer and astrophysicist Jaan Einasto (* 1929), a pioneer in the study of dark matter .
