(1573) Väisälä or (1573) Vaisala is an asteroid of the main belt , which was discovered on October 27, 1949 by the Belgian astronomer Sylvain Julien Victor Arend in Ukkel .
The asteroid is named after the Finnish astronomer Yrjö Väisälä .
