(16441) Kirchner is an asteroid of the main belt that was discovered on March 7, 1989 by the astronomer Freimut Börngen at the Thuringian state observatory in Tautenburg ( IAU code 33).
The asteroid was named on November 11, 2000 after the painter and graphic artist Ernst Ludwig Kirchner (1880-1938), a founding member of the artist group Brücke and representative of Expressionism , who also took photographs and created wooden sculptures.
